Child maltreatment is one of the most prevalent problems in our society and is both recognizable and preventable when practitioners have the right tools and know what to look for. The prospect of reporting to social services and consulting experts can be intimidating when confronted with a child that has been a victim of abuse or neglect.

This four-session series, directed toward the emergency care provider, will review the complex psychosocial issues associated with child maltreatment, tips and tricks for mandatory reporting, screening for occult injury and recognizing sentinel injuries, and consulting child abuse specialists. Time for case discussion and sharing of best practices will be made to make this an interactive and educational session.

Emergency care providers in Colorado (MD/DO, PharmD/PhD, Pharmacy, NP or other advanced practice nurse, PA-C, RN, EMT including AEMT or EMT-I, paramedic)

Continuing Education Credits:

Continuing Education for EMS: Up to 4 credit hours
Continuing Medical Education: Up to 4 credit hours
Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD): Up to 4 credit hours

Registration, attendance and completion of an evaluation are required to obtain NCPD contact hours.
