Published studies involving representative populations of children
and adolescents with intellectual disability/intellectual
developmental disorder have demonstrated a three to four-fold
increase in prevalence of co-occurring mental disorders

Children with intellectual or developmental disabilities are increasingly vulnerable to mental health problems. This free ECHO series will focus on increasing provider competency in working with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) dual diagnosis populations. The series will cover the evolution of dual diagnosis treatment, the diagnosis of mental health disorders in individuals with IDD, intervention considerations in dual diagnosis treatment and case discussions.
