ECHO facilitator/presenter/partner Dr. Micol Rothman presented at the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) 27th Scientific Symposium in Montreal this past September. WPATH is an interdisciplinary professional and educational organization devoted to transgender health. Dr. Rothman, along with Dr. Danielle Loeb, served on a panel that discussed four diverse models of providing care and training rural providers across the US. Rothman and Loeb discussed how the ECHO model works in Colorado to use specialists as telementors to support primary care providers in underserved areas.
The Transgender Health: Comprehensive Approaches in Primary Care ECHO series supports clinical providers who are interested in improving care for transgender and non-binary patients. Participants increase their knowledge and confidence in providing gender-affirming care. The series, offered on the first Thursday of the month, has been running since February 2020 and currently has over 300 registered from Colorado and across the country.
Dr. Rothman is currently a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology with secondary appointments in Psychiatry and Radiology. She is a clinical educator who directs the Metabolic Bone Clinical Program and is a co-founder of the UC Health Integrated Transgender Program.
