Adolescent Reproductive Health for Nurses, Educators and People Who Work with Youth is a new ECHO On-Demand series designed to fit your schedule and pace. This new, six-module series provides updated and relevant information about adolescent reproductive health to support youth and their families. Content includes gender and sexuality, reproductive anatomy and physiology, contraception, STIs, laws related to minor consent and confidentiality and best practices in sexual health education.

Co-creator Dr. Eliza Buyers developed this series because she knows educators, nurses and other people who work with youth are an essential source of trusted information for kids and their families. “This series will provide a solid framework for understanding and discussing these important topics,” she said. “We know the series will be fun and engaging and we also want it to be accessible which is why we’ve designed it to be online and on-demand.”

Data suggest that as many as one in 10 Coloradans have experienced long COVID, and that brain fog and cognitive impairment are present in about 25 percent of patients who recover from COVID infections. Understanding the epidemiology, pathophysiology, medical interventions and self-management methods for treating and managing these conditions is becoming increasingly important in clinical practice.

The Long COVID and Fatiguing Illness Recovery Program (LC&FIRP) has created this online course to provide current information on what brain fog is, the reasons that it occurs after a COIVD-19 infection, and to identify methods that can be used by primary care providers and patients to manage symptoms associated with brain fog.

LC&FIRP’s asynchronous courses are CDC-funded learning sessions intended to rapidly disseminate Post-acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) findings and emerging best practices. The curriculum for this stand-alone course was derived from research and recent didactic presentations held during LC&FIRP live ECHO sessions and led by subject matter experts.

New for this course: CME and CNPD credit are offered!

The Long COVID and Fatiguing Illness Recovery Program (LC&FIRP) quarterly courses are CDC-funded asynchronous learning sessions being offered by Family Health Centers of San Diego, the ECHO Institute, the University of Washington, the University of New Mexico and the University of Colorado. Quarterly Course 4, which is now open, is a 45-minute, self-paced course intended to rapidly disseminate Post-COVID Conditions (PCC) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) findings and emerging best practices.

Quarterly Course 4 consists of four modules, each featuring an interactive activity following the course content. These activities were created in Articulate Storyline, which is software used for creating interactive online learning experiences. The activities ask learners to engage with the content of the module in an interactive format. For example, Module 1 has a click-and-drag activity that asks participants to identify whether displayed symptoms are examples of brain fog or cognitive red flags.

“This format offers a low stakes way for learners to engage with a lot of course content at once without it feeling like a test,” said Garrett Ruzicka, ECHO Colorado Instructional Designer.
