Registration is open for the Third Annual Transforming Health Summit, the first in Colorado to bridge clinical care, behavioral health, and public health to better serve transgender and gender diverse communities. Hosted by Denver Health’s LGBTQ Center of Excellence and Denver Public Health on January 11 at the Colorado Convention Center, this Summit aims to create opportunities to share information, efforts, and best practices around transgender and gender diverse care across the lifespan by bridging the varied disciplines of education, advocacy, and clinical care. The Summit will bring together clinicians, nurses, educators, social workers and healthcare administrators to improve affirming healthcare for transgender and gender diverse communities. Sessions will be led by experts in the field specializing in transgender and gender diverse focused care throughout the state of Colorado. Register here.

ECHO Colorado is partnering with Denver Health’s LGBTQ Center of Excellence and University of Colorado’s School of Medicine to offer two ECHO series in 2020 aimed at improving healthcare for transgender and gender diverse communities. Creating Transgender Affirming Health Care Systems, running February 4 – March 10, 2020, will provide knowledge and tools that organizations can use to build systems of transgender affirming care in health care settings. Register here.

The second series, Comprehensive Care for Transgender Patients, is a monthly opportunity beginning January 30, 2020 that will support clinical providers interested in improving care for transgender and gender non-binary patients. Participants will increase their knowledge and confidence in providing gender-affirming care including routine primary care, hormone therapy management, surgical options and supporting mental health. An ECHO Colorado staff team attended the 2019 Public Health in the Rockies conference August 27-30 at the Keystone Conference Center in Keystone, Colo. This year’s conference, Equity and Social Justice: Innovation at Elevation, was an opportunity for education, networking and skill development for professionals in Colorado and neighboring regions. The conference was designed to build a more competent public health workforce.

ECHO Colorado staff attended a variety of sessions that presented research and policy initiatives relating to past, current and future learning series. Topics included adolescent sexual health in Colorado, children and youth with special needs, MAT training in rural areas, and innovations in behavioral health care.

Networking was an important and enjoyable aspect of the conference. ECHO Colorado staff were able to connect (and reconnect) with ECHO partners including CDPHE and the CDPHE Oral Health Unit, and staff from the IT MATTRs program.
